Including the KU
Central Library, Kyungnam University has eleven affiliated
research organizations on and off campus and promotes
independent research as well as cooperative research
activities in academia, industries, and government
organizations. The organizations have been committed
to creating a sound culture of higher education.

| ¤ıUniversity Library |
Academics and
research at KU are supported by the Kyungnam University
Central Library system. The library is an eleven-story
building which houses nine hundred thousand books and
can accommodate 2,700 students. The library provides
students, sfaculty, and staff with an outstanding collection
of resources on and off campus, enhanced by state-of-the-art
electronic links to Web-based information. KU Library
is open to all residents in the vicinity. |

| ¤ıUniversity Museum
|
On November
18, 1976, the University Museum was established to
collect, preserve, and exhibit the cultural heritage
of the Kaya Dynasty as well as treasures and relics
found in Kyungnam Province .Among the various collections,
the museum ' s pride is the special Derauchi collection
which was formerly in the possession of Japan ' s Yamaguci
Prefectural University . |

| ¤ıSchool of Continuing Education |
The School of
Continuing Education provides opportunities for both
students and local citizens to further their careers
and expand their horizons with morning, afternoon,
and evening language, computer, and enrichment courses.
The College also educates and trains commissioned students
from business companies and corporations. |

| ¤ıCenter for Information Technology |
Established
in 2002, Center for Information Technology cultivates
information and technology specialists for the 21st
century of advanced knowledge and information society.
The Center has been dedicated to the delivery of the
most up-to-date IT programs and the production of highly
proficient IT specialists, as the needs dictate in
the field. Currently, the Center, the only one of its
kind in Kyungnam Province , has been designated as
the Korea Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning
Solutions as well as an authorized Prometric testing
center through Thomson Prometric. In addition, the
Center has been selected as a career training and development
agency for the unemployed by the Ministry of Labor,
offering IT programs for the unemployed and promoting
their employment and career development through training
computer- and IT-related specialists. |

| ¤ıKyungnam University Media Services |
Kyungnam University
Media Services comprise the campus newspaper (The Kyungnam
University Weekly), the English language magazine (The
Kyungnam Times), and the Kyungnam University Broadcasting
System (KUBS). Each of the services provides students
with opportunities to hone their journalistic and media
skills before entering the marketplace, and broadcasts
daily news on and around campus, leading to the creation
of sound campus culture. |

| ¤ıKyungnam University Press |
The Kyungnam
University Press supports faculty research and other
educational activities by publishing academic journals,
campus periodicals, and selected titles for general
distribution. The University Press is equipped with
a computerized typesetting system of offset printing
machinery, and publishes and distributes quality books
at a reasonable price. |

| ¤ıHanma Residence Halls |
The Hanma Residence
Halls, dormitory buildings, consist of Hanma Residence
Hall 1 for male students and Hanma Residence Hall 2
(its construction completed in 2005) for female students.
Both are available to students from other regions and
accommodate over 1,200 students. Two students at each
residence hall share one room air-conditioned. Each
building is equiped with a variety of modern facilities,
furnished with fast food stores, lounges, seminar and
conference rooms, showers and bathrooms, reading rooms,
a language lab, a fitness room, laundry facilities,
computer labs, and recreation areas such as game rooms
and a billiard room. Students are encouraged to experience
interactions with other students, respecting the privacy
of others as well as learning autonomy while in the
residence hall. |

| ¤ıKIGES (Kyungnam Institute of
the Gifted Education in Science) |
KIGES was established
in 1998 with support from the Ministry of Science and
Technology, and officially approved in 2003 as an institute
for the gifted under the Law of Facilitating the Gifted
and Talented in Education. KIGES has been rated as
the best Gifted Institute in a row among the nationally
supported institutes for the gifted. As a result of
the education for the gifted in science, a number of
KIGES students enter Busan Science Academy and Kyungnam
Science High School every year. KIGES is very active
in publishing a variety of textbooks and policy reports.
KIGES also publishes a science journal for youths called
¡® Creativity and Mentorship ' . KIGES students have
actively participated in such diverse activities as
Korean Young Scientists Tournament, Science Kyungnam
21, APEC Science Youth Camp, International Junior Science
Olympiad, and others. |

| ¤ıCenter for Instrumental Analysis |
The CIA jointly
operates and manages the advanced and expensive research
equipment and facilities at KU, which results in the
ultimate in operational efficiency. Based on a collaboration
among industry, academia, and research institutes,
CIA also supports the research activities of faculty
members and carries out instrumental analysis for the
adjacent industries and research institutes. The CIA
cultivates professionals to work for regional development
by holding domestic and international conferences,
seminars, and workshops. In addition, the CIA makes
efforts to construct a collaborative research system
on and off campus as well as to implement research
projects. |
