Hanma Vision 2010, the future image of Kyungnam University : KU has specialized, localized, and gained information in order to seek education empowered by innovation and competence. Hanma Vision 2010 is the meaning of its body of image from the country and society setting a goal for 2010. In addition, it is not only KU ' s future image, but also the ultimate development goal that will be carried. The focal point of this specialization lies in strengthening and materializing KU ' s standing as the top-ranked university in the region of Gyeongnam Province . The university is committed to educating professionals-with selective and intensive investment to and support for the designated fields-who will contribute to the development of the local community.

IT-Based Manufacturing_ To raise professionals working for the next generation of growth business that combines traditional manufacturing with advanced IT.

Coastal Environment_ To produce professionals for the recovery and preservation of coastal environments, covering issues related to coastal harbors, ports, aquaculture, etc.

Welfare for the Elderly and Tourism_ To educate professionals who can work for the welfare of the elderly in preparation for the advent of an aging society, and who can deal with tourism business with a special focus on the South Sea Tourist Belt.

The Institute for Far Eastern Studies_ To administer mid-and long-term projects to facilitate unification between South and North Korea, encompassing such activities as studies of North Korean materials, the construction of a database for information related to unification, the operation of a collaboration center to facilitate exchanges between South and North Korea, and the construction of a consortium among the research institutes concerned with both North Korean and Korean Peninsula affairs.
